Who Can Join?

Anyone can join New Ash Green epee club from the age of 9 and above.

We are also able to cater for disabled people, the first few weeks would be individual lessons where you will learn all the basics to wheelchair fencing.

The cost of the course is £70 and runs for 6 weeks.

What Kit Do I Need?

The only kit you will need is tracksuit bottoms and suitable indoor trainers, preferably squash court trainers, however clean running shoes will be sufficient.

A spare t-shirt is advisable!

We supply all the fencing equipment needed to participate in a fun and safe way. 

There is even an onsite kitchen should you forget your water bottles!

Yes! Once you have finished your beginner course you will be of a standard where you can compete in certain competitions, the coach will be able to recommend which are suitable for you.

For insurance purposes you will need to become a member of British Fencing, BF offer a 3 month free trial after which the cost for starter membership is £13.50 for U18 and £20.50 for adults a year.

For a sport with origins in warfare and duelling, fencing is actually very safe. High quality equipment and strict rule enforcement have reduced the risk of injury in this "combat sport."


Fencing is rated as only slightly more dangerous than synchronised swimming and is actually as safe as table tennis!
